Cashmere musk, vanilla absolute, royal Hawaiian sandalwood, whisky-aged oak barrels, myrrh.

To my nose, one of the most remarkable materials in my vast collection is a dense, dark liquid extracted from the ancient staves of old oak whiskey barrels. Mysore sandalwood might be far more precious, and myriad cedars might have more general utility, but aged oak absolute is just… wow. There are differences based on where the oak comes from and what the barrels held, but in general you would be hard pressed to find any batch of this extract anything other than caramelic, warm, boozy, and rich. 

This material, carefully sourced to avoid any potential allergens, is the canvas for Cordial and it delivers not just the woody base notes, but the some of the boozy, radiant top notes, and caramelic heart. In some ways, every other material serves to tease out each various facet of the golden oak, a material that doesn’t get enough play given our thirst for boozy gourmands. 

You want to smell sweet, but not cloyingly so.
